Boardman Forks Take Supply Road southeast from the Traverse City area to Brown Bridge Road, just past the bridge over the river. Turn RIGHT (west) and drive about 1/2 mile to the river access on the right. Don't park in the turn around space that's used by the liveries. There's a toilet in the DNR camp ground. Map To Forks ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Schecks Landing From Traverse City, take Garfiled Rd south to Hobbs Highway. Stay left on Hobbs Highway at the fork in the road. Go about a mile to Ranch Rudolf Rd on the right. Turn right and go about 2.5 miles until the road turns to dirt and there is STOP sign. Turn Right. Look for the Schecks CANOE LANDING on the left not the Schecks Trail Campground. If you pass the bridge, you have gone past it. There's a toilet there. Map To Schecks Canoe Landing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Boardman Brown Bridge Canoe Landing Take Garfield Road south of Traverse City to River Road (goes west) and Brownbridge Rd (goes east). Turn left (east) and drive about 1/4 mile. You will cross Arbutus Hill Road, and then the river itself. The next driveway on the left is the upper parking lot for the landing. Go down to the lower area and park there if there is enoguh room. There is a toilet there. Map To Brown Bridge Landing Canoe Landing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Boardman River Pitch Property This is a private property owned and restored by the Traverse City Rugby Club. The property is located on the left (south side of the road) at the first driveway. Stay to the left and go down the driveway extension to the east toward the white house. DO NOT use this property without permission. No Toilet. The best river access is the one nearest the parking area to the south. From Traverse City, head south on Keystone Road and turn left (east) on River Road. Go about 2.5 miles. Look for a funny "H" road sign with railroad tracks on one side and a line on the other side of the "H". There is also a small dark brown canoe access sign. Turn right on Shumsky Road; take it about 1/2 mile to the DNR access site on the right. *********** OR ********** 2. From the east side of TC, get to the corner of Garfield and River Road and head west on River Road. Go about 3 miles, and there is a funny "H" road sign with railroad tracks on one side and a line on the other side of the "H". There is also a small dark brown canoe access sign. Turn left on Shumsky Road; take it about 1/2 mile to the DNR access site on the right. There's a toilet there. Map To Shumsky Canoe Landing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Boardman Beitner Landing Go out Keystone Rd which is also Beitner Rd and head south. The road here is headed SW / NE so the landing is located on the southeast side of Beitner Rd. on the northeast side of the river. It's just 400 yards southwest of River Rd and Keystone intersection. There's a toilet there. Map To Bietner Rd Canoe Landing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Boardman Oleson Bridge Landing Go out Keystone Rd which is also Beitner Rd and head south. The road here is headed South so the landing is located on the west side of Beitner Rd. on the east side of the river. It's just 400 yards southwest of River Rd and Keystone intersection.
