Today, Ev and I drove down to Gladwin to be volunteers at a cleanup on the Golden Cedar River led by the
Little Forks Conservancy in Midland.

Glen at Ike's Mobile Kayak Rentals provided the kayaks for the volunteers, free of charge for the 6th time, to do this cleanup.

WOW! What a great group of people.

We had 15 people show up, 12 from the Midland and Gladwin area and 3 came from the BRCS/TAPC

I got some great photos but the best one was missed because my camera battery died but others got it.

What happened is that we found a round picnic table in a logjam and we left it since it was so heavy but one
of the younger guys, Tristan, an AmeriaCorps volunteer, somehow got it in his boat by himself in the current
and in deep water and paddled all the way to town with it plus a piece of concrete culvert and a 10' steel fence
post plus all the trash he had found prior to that.

How he did that without flipping or sinking is a some sort of miracle.

In all we took at least 450 pounds of trash (or more) out of the river.

The City of Galdwin's Parks and Rec disposed of the trash for us.

We wish to thank the City of Gladwin for the use of their beautiful City Park and for the trash disposal.

We also wish to thank the Mayor of Gladwin, Sarah Kile, for coming down to the Park in the morning to greet us and to thank
us and to wish us well for doing this work for their City.

In the 20 years we have been doing this, Gladwin is the only town or city or village that has EVER sent a government official to
our project to thank us and show that they appreciate what we are doing for their community.
