Boardman River Clean Sweep
Betsie River Cleanup Report
Homestead Dam to Betsie Riverside Resort Section
Friday, June 9, 2023

Some 30 people showed up to do this multi-section project on the Betsie River.

(Sue was in the bathroom when we took the photo so we photo-shopped her in.)

Ten of us were ready to do this very difficult one mile section of the Betsie River today. We had the right tools and
the desire to make the Betsie free of fishing lines and hooks in the trees and in the river.

Marvin Puska ran our shuttle.

The river was quite low and that helped us be able to get out of our boats and stand in the river to do our work.

I saw some Lamprea Eels spawning near the dam.

The amount of fishing gear in the trees and in the river was staggering but we got about 90% of it out in 3 hours. We were happy
to see that the general cleanliness of the river was really pretty good. We found very little plastic, cans and bottles in the river.

The Betsie Riverside Resort allowed us to use their property and dumpster today. THANK YOU for your help.
