Boardman River Clean Sweep
Williamsburg Rd Burn Pit Report
May 12, 2023

After three straight days of picking up 6000 pounds of shingles at 5 shingle piles in 3 different locations, my goal
today was to fill the trailer with debris without picking up one shingle and I achieved my goal with the help of some
really great volunteers.

The access to this site was difficult via a very long, very narrow, very rutted, very hilly and very sandy 2 track.

Randy left his low riding car at the main road and he rode with Greg in his big, beautiful, brand new pickup truck.

The site was where people have brought things that they didn't want any more to burn, like mattresses and
palettes, bed frames, pickup toppers and

PIANOS!!

The pickup topper fit perfectly in the trailer which was a real stroke of luck.

We used two magnets to pick up the over 40 pounds of nails that were left in the pit from burning palletts.

We let Greg pull the trailer out of the site with his truck because I was fearful that my car was not up to the task.

We were able to recycle almost all of the metal we found today. That money is used to help pay for the dumpsters.

After we unloaded at the DNR disposal site on Mill Rd, I took these guys out to lunch for a BK COUPON Lunch.
It was the very least I could do to repay them for their hard work. The total cost for the 6 of us was $27.50.

We save a bunch of money with these coupon lunches. If you have old BK coupon sheets, we would love to have them.

In the past 4 days, we have removed over 6000 pounds of shingles, metal and assorted littler from these woods.

I can't express adequately how much I appreciate the hard work these very hearty volunteers have done. They, and
others like them, are the backbone of this organization. No amount of donations could get this work done as well.

Our work today was partially funded by grants from

The Consumers Energy Foundation

National Cherry Festival Foundation

And private donors like you.
