Boardman River Clean Sweep
Single Dock Section Removal
1/2 Mile Downstream of the Forks
August 20, 2013

It was a pretty pre-Fall day but

There was a very old dock section in the river.

With lots of these in it. It needed to come out
before somebody got badly hurt.

So, we got a team of old people together to

Go and get it with ropes and saws.

We pulled it out - it didn't want to come out easily.

It was so water logged that it would not float.

We used the Sawzall to take it apart and

Put the pieces in the big GTCD Michicraft canoe.

We discovered a large piece of plywood attached to the dock.
It was covered with mud, sand and nails.

We left it on the bank for a later pickup.

Now the spot looks like this. Much better! and safer, too.

It made a nice little pile of lumber that will be
burned by Ranch Rudolf to heat their water.

Wet and tired, here we are, pleased with our accomplishments.

A Week Later We Went Back To Finish The Job

The crew - Dane showed up from nowhere to help us.
And we needed his help a lot.

Dane held on to it and we cut it in 10 or more pieces.

Dane held on to it and we cut it in 10 or more pieces.

We loaded two solo canoes - they were tippy.

It was much heavier than we expected it to be.
A large tandem would have been a better choice.

Dane let us use his property to off load the pieces.
He will use the wood for his heat this winter.

Norm really is smart enough to operate a wheel barrow.

A fine mess you got us into again, Norm.
It took two days to do it.
But that spot is really nice now.

Thanks to Jocelyn, Paul, Glenn (twice), Dane and John M,
for lending a hand on this little, but fun, project.
